Online Friends, Both Real and Not

There are no shortage of "friend Sites"--Friendster, Meebo, Facebook, My Space, and dozens of IM sites exist to facilitate keeping in touch with friends and making new friends.

There are also more than a few sites where people can connect with one another, as they exist only in cyberspace, like Meez, WeeWorld, City Pixel, Mikons, and so on. On these sites, users construct avatars to represent them within the particular virtual community.


For those of you who don't have any friends in the real world, and who can't even manage to develop any fake friendships with virtual people in virtual communities, the web offers some other options as well.

You can IM with Zippy the Pinhead. Sure, his replies don't make any sense, but he responds every time you send him a message, and does so quickly-he's ALWAYS online.














No less fulfilling is a play date with Hello-Kitty and her friend Bear. I spent the batter part of an afternoon with the pair not too long ago. So many fun activities all in one place! kitty has been hooked up with regards to games and toys, arts and crafts supplies, educational games and activities, and Kitty and Bear will happily share them all with you and I any time.


















On my last visit to kitty's playroom, i joined Kitty and Bear in a delightful afternoon tea party. I preferred the English Breakfast.






















Fuck that! Bear should have asked for his own muffins.

Before I left, I took advantage of printing out the certificate that i made there that proves that Kitty and Bear are my friends, even if nobody else will be, which they won't. I have no idea why.


















If all else fails, you could go with a pet for a friend, a virtual pet, for instance in the form of a little dog that seems to be inside your computer and feverishly licking the screen. He's adorable, he seems to really like you, and never has to be fed or walked, or attended to in any way, really.
